Next-gen HUD (NGH) is the core software engine for the current generation of the Carpe Iter handlebar controller ecosystem. It serves two primary functions:
- A mandatory companion app and control manager for Carpe Iter handlebar remotes.
- A dedicated interface for managing proprietary hardware features on the Caretta flagship GPS.
The Control Engine for Carpe Iter Remotes
Without NGH, a Carpe Iter Bluetooth controller functions only as a generic input device. NGH converts it into a configurable control hub that dynamically adapts its keymap and behavior based on the active navigation app.
Important Note: Using a Carpe Iter controller without NGH is equivalent to booting a PC with only the BIOS and no operating system. The hardware will power on, but application-specific controls and advanced integrations will not operate. Running NGH is required to unlock full controller functionality.
Caretta-Specific Features
For Caretta devices, NGH directly interfaces with and manages specialized hardware features, performance modes, and connectivity settings. These hardware-level optimizations are only active while NGH is running. Detailed configuration steps are available in the dedicated section on the Caretta.
Built-In Features
In addition to controller management, NGH functions as an all-in-one cockpit application providing:
- Mini Homescreen & Media Control: Quick-access dashboard and media playback controls.
- Digital Rally Roadbook: Digital roadbook navigation and tripmaster integration.
- Map Navigation: Map viewing, live track recording, and GPX track import/export.
- Quick Navigation: Direct routing to predefined points of interest.
