Installation guide:

It is recommended to pre-assemble the AMPS base on the bar before attaching the Cradle.

  1. Place the bottom section of the bracket onto the bar.

For landscape installation, ensure the pointer faces forward:

For portrait installation ensure the pointer faces left

  2. Insert the 4 nuts into the corner holes of the bottom section of the bracket (the Cradle will be attached to these later).
Position the nuts so the threaded side faces the incoming screw. The screw must engage the metal threads first before passing through the nylon locking element. You should NOT see the nylon thread locking insert, when placed correctly.
  3. Place the upper part onto the assembly - ensure that the pointer faces forward for landscape installation and left for portrait installation.
  4. Insert 4 nuts into the 4 center holes and secure by screws from the rear.
The nut thread needs to face the screw coming from the rear (you should see the nylon locking insert when placed correctly. Please ensure the nut sits correctly in the recess. Do not tighten yet to be able to correct the angle after the Cradle is attached.

  5. Attach the Cradle with M4x22 screws with washers.

  6. If the Cradle mounting screws refuse to grab the nuts, use a thinner hex key to correct the nut position and or push it a little from the rear.

  7. Torgue the Cradle mounting screws. Recommended torgue 0,5Nm. Do NOT overtighten - these screws only keep the Cradle attached to the AMPS base. They do not have any effect for AMPS clamping force.

  8. Adjust the angle of the Cradle as desired and torgue the center 4 screws to ensure sufficient AMPS base clamping force. Do not exceed 2Nm.

Portrait orientation explained:

The AMPS base features an asymmetrical design to compensate for the device's overall wedged shape when mounted in a portrait (vertical) orientation. This intentional asymmetry ensures that the device screen remains perfectly parallel to the GPS bar once installed.

The wedge-shaped design of the Caretta results from intentional placement of a large GPS antenna to the upper part of the body.
