GPS Troubleshooting - Android 11

If you are experiencing GPS signal or position lock issues on your CI Pad running Android 11 despite an unobstructed view of the sky, follow the troubleshooting steps below:

Step 1: Check GPSTune3 Application

Ensure that you have the latest version of the GPSTune3 application installed. You can check for updates in the Carpe Manager app under the App Shelf.

Step 2: Reset and Configure GNSS Chip

  1. Open the GPSTune3 application and tap Reset.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then tap Setup Chip.

Note: These commands store resident configuration settings directly on the GNSS chip. This process typically only needs to be completed once, as GPSTune3 is designed to automatically configure the GNSS chip in the background upon device boot.

Step 3: Position Lock Acquisition

After executing the Reset command, the GNSS chip data is wiped, and it may take several minutes to re-acquire an initial satellite position lock.

Tip: If the device is connected to the Internet, you can accelerate satellite acquisition by selecting Assist Offline, applying the commands, and then switching to Assist Online. Assistance data will subsequently download automatically in the background during normal operation.

Step 4: Verify GPS Antenna Clearance

Ensure that the GPS antenna located next to the M8 charging port is unobstructed. Covering the antenna—even with a hand or mounting hardware—will significantly degrade GPS performance.

Step 5: Check for App Conflicts (DMD2)

If you are using the DMD2 application and positioning issues persist after performing the above steps, uninstall DMD2 and retest GPS functionality to rule out third-party background location conflicts.

Step 6: Factory Reset (If Issues Persist)

If position fixing remains unreliable, system files or conflicting software may be interfering with GPSTune3. Perform a factory reset to restore default system state:

  1. Go to System Settings > Software > Reset Options > Erase All Data (Factory Reset).
  2. After completing the initial setup wizard, open the Google Play Store and update all pending applications first.
  3. Open Carpe Manager, install/update GPSTune3, and execute Reset followed by Setup Chip.

If GPS issues persist after completing these troubleshooting steps, please contact Carpe Iter customer support for technical assistance.
