Prior to the official release of the Android 13 operating system update for CI Pad, volunteer testing and feedback are welcome. Please follow the prerequisites and step-by-step instructions below to install the update.
Prerequisites
- Android 11: Your CI Pad must already have Android 11 installed. If you have not upgraded yet, refer to the Android 11 update guide.
- SD Card Configuration: If an SD card is installed, it must be formatted as portable storage. For instructions, see SD card on CI Pad.
Download Packages
Download the appropriate package for your CI Pad version to your PC or directly to your CI Pad:
Installation Instructions
-
Extract the update files:
- If downloaded to a PC: Unpack the ZIP archive and copy all extracted files directly into the
Downloadfolder on your CI Pad. - If downloaded directly to CI Pad: Open the ZIP file in the Files app, select all contained files, open the three-dots menu in the top-right corner, and select Unpack into the
Downloadfolder.
- If downloaded to a PC: Unpack the ZIP archive and copy all extracted files directly into the
- Disable Data Connections: Turn off Wi-Fi and Mobile Data (if a SIM card is inserted).
- Access Update Menu: Go to Settings > Software > Additional system updates. You will see an error notification regarding internet connectivity (this is normal and required). Tap From file.
Note: If this is your first manual update, accept the permission prompt, then tap Additional system updates again to proceed.
- Select Update File: Navigate to the
Downloadfolder strictly via the device tree (do not use the "Recent" shortcut, as Android permission restrictions will cause the process to fail) and select the file namedpayload_properties. - Apply Update: The installation process takes approximately 15 minutes. Once preparation is complete, confirm the prompt to reboot.
Note: If you leave the update progress screen, the process will continue in the background. You can return to Additional system updates at any time to check progress. Do not tap "Cancel".
Post-Installation & Testing Notes
Reboot Behavior: The initial reboot may take up to 30 seconds. If the screen remains dark for longer than 30 seconds, briefly press the Power button to turn the CI Pad on.
First Boot Time: The first system startup will take significantly longer than usual while the device unpacks and configures the new system files.
Testing Advisory: While the update has passed thorough internal testing with zero failures, participation in beta testing is recommended primarily for users located within the EU (ideally in or near the Czech Republic) to simplify logistics in the unlikely event a manual reflash is required.
