Transferring Settings During Android 13 Update

When updating from Android 11 to Android 13, the tablet performs a factory reset and prompts you to complete the initial setup wizard. During this process, Android offers an option to copy apps and transfer settings from an existing smartphone or device.

Recommendation: Do not transfer settings or data from your phone during the initial setup. Always select the option to set up the tablet as a new device.

Why You Should Set Up as a New Device

Transferring data from a personal phone can migrate conflicting system settings and security policies, including existing screen lock credentials (PIN/Password/Pattern) that may cause lockouts or configuration conflicts on the tablet.

Because the data transfer wizard is managed entirely by Android core services, Carpe Iter cannot control or filter which individual parameters are migrated. Setting up the tablet from scratch ensures optimal system stability and prevents unwanted configuration carry-over.
