Android 13 update

Modified on Mon, 26 May at 1:43 PM

Hey guys, before we make official release of the Android 13 update, it would be nice to get a few volunteers to test and give feedback.

Pre-requisites:

a. Android 11 installed (if you don't have that, check here: Android 11 update)

b. SD card (if present) formatted as portable. Please check this support article, if not sure: SD card on CI Pad

Download package for your CI Pad version to your PC or directly to CI Pad:

A13_v4

A13_v4b

A13_Fantic

If downloaded to PC, unpack the zip and copy ALL files into the Download folder. If you downloaded direct to the CI Pad, you need to open the archive in the Files, select ALL files contained in the archive and select unpack under the top right corner 3-dots menu.

Turn off Wifi and Mobile data (if you are using SIM card).

Go to system Settings - Software - Additional system updates. You will get an error prompt about internet connection (which is what you need) and click on the option "From file". If this is the first time you are doing an update, you will get a permission pop-up - confirm that and repeat the process (you need to click on Additional software update menu item again).

Navigate to the Download folder and click on the file "payload_properties". You must navigate to the Download folder from the device tree, not from the Recent shortcut or you will get a fail (Android security related stuff).

The update will take a while. After the device is ready to apply Android 13 update, you get a prompt to reboot - do just that. If you swiped off the update progress screen (which is fine, as long as you do NOT click "cancel") the process will continue on the background. You can check back to the Additional system updates - the progress screen will come back up. The process will take about 15 minutes.

When you first reboot, it will take up to 30 seconds for CI Pad to restart. If the screen stays black for more than 30 seconds, just short press power button to start CI Pad as you normally would.

The first start will take a while - there is a LOT of data to unpack and apply.

Although everything has been tested thoroughly, there is always an odd chance of some mishaps. It would be ideal that you only test the update, if you are within EU and best in a country neighboring with Czech Republic, to make the logistics simpler in case you will need to send the CI Pad over here for manual reflash (we are not expecting that should actually happen - there was not a single fail during our internal testing).
