How to Reset a Locked CI Pad

If you are locked out of your CI Pad due to a forgotten PIN, pattern, or password, you must perform a factory reset via Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions corresponding to your device's Android version.

Android 11 Reset Procedure

  1. Prepare the Device:
    • Ensure the CI Pad is completely powered off. If unresponsive, press the hardware reset pinhole button.
    • Disconnect all chargers, cables, and external peripherals.
    • Ensure the battery has at least 50% charge before beginning.
  2. Enter Recovery Mode:
    • Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
    • When the Carpe Iter logo appears, release the Power button while continuing to hold Volume Down for approximately 10 seconds.
  3. Execute Factory Reset:
    • Use the Volume Down button to navigate the recovery menu and highlight Clear eMMC.
    • Press the Power button to confirm. The tablet will execute the wipe and reset process.
  4. Reboot:
    • Once the reset finishes, select Reboot to restart the device into initial setup.

Android 13 Reset Procedure

  1. Ensure the tablet is powered off (use the reset pinhole button next to the power button if needed).
  2. Press and hold Volume Up and the Power button simultaneously until the Android recovery screen appears.
  3. Release both buttons.
  4. Press both buttons repeatedly and simultaneously until the main Recovery Menu loads.
  5. Use the Volume Up/Down buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset.
  6. Press the Power button to confirm and initiate the reset.
  7. Select Reboot system now once the wipe is complete.

Alternative Method for Android 13

  1. Press and hold Volume Up and Power until the "No Command" screen appears.
  2. Hold the Power button, tap Volume Up once, then release both buttons to open the Recovery Menu.
  3. Select Wipe data/factory reset using the volume keys and confirm with the power button.
Important Note on Google Backups: If the device asks for a PIN immediately after a reset during initial setup, it is likely inherited from a previously synchronized Google account backup. When setting up the device, select "Do not copy apps & data" to prevent importing legacy lock credentials.
