How to reinstall / reset CI Pad - Android 9

Modified on Thu, 10 Sep at 8:49 AM

Reinstalling the Operating System (CI Pad v4 & v4b)

If you are experiencing persistent software issues that cannot be resolved through standard troubleshooting or FAQ guides, reinstalling the operating system on your CI Pad will restore the device to a clean state.

Warning: OS reinstallation should be used as a last resort. Reinstalling the OS wipes all stored data and third-party applications. If you are preparing to update to Android 11 on v4/v4b units, note that the update process performs a full system wipe and will likely resolve existing software issues automatically.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure the CI Pad battery is charged to at least 60%.
  • Maintain a stable, active internet connection throughout the entire process.
  • Do NOT use the standard "Erase all data (factory reset)" option located in Android System Settings.

Reinstallation Procedure

  1. Open the Carpe Manager app.
  2. Navigate to the Repair & Update tab and select Re-install & Reset.
  3. Confirm the reset. The application will download a complete system image to prevent file corruption.
  4. Wait for the download and installation to complete. This typically takes 10–15 minutes or longer depending on your network speed.
  5. Leave the device completely unattended during this process:
    • Do NOT operate or power off the CI Pad.
    • Do NOT disconnect from the internet.
    • If the screen goes dark due to display timeout, the installation is still running in the background.
    • The CI Pad will automatically reboot during installation.
  6. The procedure is complete when the CI Pad returns to the default Home screen.

Note for Standard Factory Resets: If you accidentally initiated a reset via Android Settings (Erase all data) rather than Carpe Manager, you must complete the initial device configuration manually as demonstrated in this video. Once configured, you must still run the Re-install & Reset process through Carpe Manager to ensure all proprietary system components function properly.
