Accessibility Service Turned Off

If the Android accessibility shortcut is enabled, you may accidentally disable the Carpe Controller background service by tapping the accessibility icon on your navigation bar (adjacent to the Back, Home, and Recent Apps buttons). On devices configured for gesture navigation, this shortcut can also be triggered unintentionally via specific gestures or hardware button combinations. If your controller buttons suddenly stop responding, an inactive Accessibility Service is the most common cause.

Checking Device Restrictions & App Permissions

In some cases, the Accessibility Service may appear enabled in system settings but remains restricted or killed in the background by Android's power management. To verify your device configuration:

  1. Long-press the Carpe Controller app icon on your home screen or app drawer.
  2. Select App info.
  3. Review the settings and verify that permissions and background execution match the recommended configuration shown below.

Note: Applying certain permission changes and battery optimization exemptions may require restarting your device for changes to take full effect.
