How to Reset a Locked CI Pad - Android 11

If you've locked yourself out by setting a PIN or other security credentials and have forgotten them, you'll need to perform a factory reset in recovery mode. Follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the CI Pad:

    • Ensure the CI Pad is turned off. If you're unsure, press the reset button to power it off.
    • The device must not be charging or connected to any other devices.
    • If the battery is low (below 20%), charge the CI Pad to at least 50%. Remember to unplug it from the charger before proceeding.
  2. Enter Recovery Mode:

    • Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously.
    • Once the Carpe Iter logo appears, release the Power button but continue holding the Volume Down button for a total of 10 seconds.
  3. Access Recovery Menu:

    • After a few seconds, the recovery menu will open.
  4. Perform Factory Reset:

    • Use the Volume Down button to scroll down to "Clear eMMC." (factory reset)
    • Select this option by pressing the Power button. It may take a few seconds to react.
    • The tablet will perform a factory reset.
  5. Completion:

    • After the factory reset is complete, select "reboot". The CI Pad will restart and you can set it up as new.

The bottom line:

If the issue persists, there's chance you selected a PIN security when setting the device backup by Google in the past on another Android device. That might lead to the mentioned issue if you choose to "Copy apps & data" during the initial Android setup. To avoid this, do not import the apps and data from your previous Android device.
