The NGH (Next-gen HUD) is deployed via the Google Play Store for all Android-powered devices. That includes the Caretta and also CI Pad v4, v4b, v4c, and v4d. The process is identical to installing any other Android app.
Caretta Users: NGH is pre-installed on the Caretta. NGH cannot be removed from the Caretta—only updated.
Installation & Compatibility
To install or update NGH on your device:
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
- Search for NGHor open the direct link below:

- If updates are available, the Play Store will offer to update your installation.
Compatible operating systems: Android 13 and higher
Permissions & Privacy Overview
When you first run NGH, it will ask for a set of permissions required for NGH to work correctly.
The only permission you can skip reliably without losing core functionality is permanent access to your location in the background.
- If granted: NGH records location and performs speed and distance calculations continuously.
- If denied: Speed and distance calculations and Live Log will malfunction when NGH is not actively displayed on the screen (running in the background).
⚠️ Important: Denying background location access will cause Live Log and speed/distance calculations in Widgets to malfunction whenever NGH is not in view.
NGH does not send any information outside your device, so you do not need to be concerned about permissions and security—everything runs locally within your device. You can double-check this on the NGH details page in the Google Play Store (the Play Store provides an unbiased summary of NGH's capabilities and data handling practices).
