SIM Card Not Recognized
If your CI Pad does not recognize the SIM card, the primary cause is poor electrical contact between the SIM card contact pads and the internal slot pins. This issue typically occurs when using SIM card size adapters, or when the SIM card is worn or oxidized.
Troubleshooting & Recommendations
-
Inspect SIM Card Condition:
- Check the gold contact pads on the SIM card to ensure they are clean, unscratched, and free of oxidation.
- Test with a native, correctly sized SIM card (without an adapter) to verify if the issue persists.
-
Obtain a Replacement SIM Card:
- If your SIM card has been cut or requires an adapter, request a replacement from your mobile operator. When punching out the new card from the carrier plate, retain the exact format required for the CI Pad to avoid adapter usage.
-
Avoid Frequent SIM Swapping:
Warning: The SIM card slot and contacts are not engineered for repeated insertion cycles. Frequent swapping between devices can cause premature mechanical failure of the SIM slot pins.
-
Use a Cloned (Dual) SIM Card:
- Most mobile operators offer cloned (twin) SIM cards sharing the same phone number, allowing a card to remain permanently installed in your CI Pad.
- To transfer cellular service between your phone and the CI Pad, enable Airplane Mode on the device you are not using and disable it on the active device.
-
Managing Airplane Mode & Independent Radios:
- Airplane Mode disables cellular connectivity without restricting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. After activating Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be turned back on independently.
- Swipe down from the top of the CI Pad screen to open the Quick Settings panel and toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as needed.
