Can I keep the CI Pad on my bike permanently?

Important: The CI Pad is not designed for permanent mounting on a motorcycle. Always remove the device when the motorcycle is parked, including overnight.

Leaving the CI Pad permanently connected or mounted on the bike introduces several operational risks:

  1. Reverse Current & Parasitic Drain: Connecting the CI Pad to an unpowered circuit or power source (such as an unpowered motorcycle mount, an unplugged wall adapter, or a powered-down laptop) can cause current to flow backward from the CI Pad into the power source. This parasitic draw can quickly damage or degrade the internal battery.
  2. Deep Battery Depletion: Prolonged draining can push the lithium cells below their minimum recovery voltage threshold, preventing the battery from accepting a charge. Once critically depleted, the unit will not power on and requires factory service to recover.
  3. Environmental Exposure: The CI Pad is not engineered to withstand continuous, long-term exposure to outdoor elements. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat, direct solar UV radiation, or severe winter cold can degrade seals and internal electronics over time.
