NGH Accessibility service - how to restart it

Modified on Thu, 30 Jul at 1:27 PM

The NGH accessibility service is required for the Auto-profiling feature to work reliably.

NGH checks at each start if the accessibility service is running, and if not, it will give you an on-screen prompt to enable it. However, some operating systems use half-way measures to manage background tasks, and it is possible that the accessibility service was actually disabled by the operating system while it still appears to be running.

How to Verify the Accessibility Service

The easiest way to check if the accessibility service functions correctly is to call the HUD through your controller:

If the HUD shows, all is good.

How to Enable or Cycle the NGH Accessibility Service

If the HUD does not show, follow these steps to reset or enable the service:

  1. Open your Android device's Settings.
  2. Access the Accessibility menu using one of the following methods:
    • Search (Recommended): Use the search bar in Settings and type "Accessibility" (or the equivalent in your system language), then select it from the search results.
    • Manual Navigation: Locate Accessibility directly in the Settings menu. On some systems (like Caretta), it is located in the main menu. On other systems (like Samsung), it can be buried deeper in the menu tree.
    • Device-Specific Search: For devices other than Caretta, search online for the exact location of Accessibility settings on your specific Android model if you cannot find it.
  3. Navigate to Installed Apps (or Downloaded Apps) and select Carpe Iter NGH.
  4. If the service is disabled, toggle it ON. If it appears to be enabled already, toggle it OFF and back ON.
  5. When prompted, approve the service access request. You must approve this step, or the service will remain disabled.

⚠️ Important: Make sure you actually enable the service itself, not just the shortcut. These are two separate settings—the shortcut can safely remain disabled.
