Controller not connecting (re-connecting)

Modified on Tue, 7 Jul at 9:53 AM

Carpe Iter remote controller failure is extremely rare. Please make sure you go through steps indicated below before contacting support.

Situation: Carpe Iter remote controller was previously paired with an Android device, but does not re-connect subsequently. IMPORTANT: The controller is NOT listed in the the Android device Bluetooth manager among actively connected Bluetooth devices.

If the controller is actually listed among actively connected Bluetooth devices (the list in the Bluetooth manger looks like the picture below with your controller showing among connected devices) but it does not function as intended, please check this support article.

Solutions

1. Turn Bluetooth off on your Android device, wait a few seconds. Turn Bluetooth on and after a few seconds press a controller button.

2. Check that the controller is powered. Each controller has a status LED. If the LED is off, the controller is not powered. Most frequented problem is improperly mated connector or a burned fuse. In case the controller is connected to the ignition switched auxiliary power outlet, please make sure the ignition is on with the engine running.

3. In case your controller is Adventure Control, press the button with the "Enter" key symbol (the button below the joystick) - it is possible that Adventure Control is only in the Idle mode

4. If the controller status LED shows solid blue color, it means the controller is already connected somewhere else. Because it is already connected to another Android device, it cannot simultaneously connect to a second Android device. This typically happens when you previously paired the controller with multiple Android devices (e.g. the Caretta and also your Android cell phone) and both are in Bluetooth range. Please disable Bluetooth or unpair the controller from Android devices in range, where you do not want to controller to be connected. Check again, if the controller is connected to the intended Android device in a few seconds.

5. If the controller status LED flashes in blue, it means the controller is ready to pair, but there is no bonding relationship on your Android device. Please refer to this support article for pairing instructions. If you are sure the controller was previously paired and you can see it in the list of saved devices in the Bluetooth manager, take the following steps (example for Adventure control).

    A. Press any controller button and wait a few seconds. Check the connection status in your Android device Bluetooth manager. If it is now showing on the list of connected devices, all is good. In case the controller is connected, but doesn't function as expected, please check this support article.

    B. Delete the saved controller - press the cog wheel and select "Unpair" or "Forget". The proceedure is further detailed in this support article.

    C. Check that the controller status LED is flashing blue (ready for pairing). If there is no LED or it is solid blue, please check the steps 1 through 3 above.

    D. Connect (pair/bond) the controller anew as detailed in this support article
